Li Na (3) vs. Sabine Lisicki - Each player received an unfortunate draw to play each other in the second round, but that means it will make for a great second-round match for the fans to take in on day four.

Li, the current French Open champion, has shown that she can be dangerous on any surface. However, her flat groundstroke game may actually be best suited for grass, and she tasted her first bit of success in a major at Wimbledon in 2006, when she made the first of her two quarterfinal appearances in London

But for such a young player, the 21-year-old Lisicki holds similar credentials as Li, having appeared in the Wimbledon quarterfinals in 2009. Lisicki is one of the hottest players on tour after winning the grass-court tournament in Birmingham a few weeks before Wimbledon

Both players hit the ball hard from the baseline, but Lisicki has the bigger serve. However, Li has more experience, which should give her the advantage she needs to move past this tough second-round match-up in three sets.

Serena Williams (7) v. Simona Halep - Williams struggled at times in her first-round match, which clearly meant more to her than just a first-round victory as evidenced by her post-match tears. She must have had plenty of nerves prior to her match against Aravene Rezai because she sprayed some uncharasteristc errors.

To advance deep into the tournament, Serena will need to serve consistently and develop more consistency from the baseline. Although Halep is a dangerous player at No. 58 in the world, Serena will command play against the Romanian, as she does in nearly all of her matches.

This should allow for another match in which Serena can hone her skills as the tournament progresses. While Halep will show her skill from the baseline at times, Serena will take control of most of the points and seize a straight-set victory.

Peng Shuai (20) v. Elena Baltacha - Although born in the Ukraine, Baltacha represents Great Britain as their highest-ranked woman in their home tournament. Baltacha has lost in the second round of her past four tournaments, and she will hope to buck that trend against World No. 20 Peng.

However, Peng went 3-2 in her grass court warm-ups, with her only two losses against eventual champion Lisicki in Birmingham and World No. 5 Victoria Azarenka in Eastbourne.

Peng is a poor match-up for Baltacha, which should allow the Chinese player to advance into the third round at Wimbledon for the first time since 2007.

Lucie Safarova (31) v. Klara Zakopalova - Although Safarova is the seeded player in this match, Zakopalova is ranked just three spots behind her fellow Czech at No. 35 in the world.

In a match that will be as close as their rankings, little will likely separate these two Czech players on Thursday.

However, the difference in this match could be each player’s form going into this match, as these players are headed in opposite directions at the moment. Zakopalova lost 6-3, 6-2 in both of her first round matches prior to Wimbledon and struggled to a tight three-set victory against World No. 244 Emily Webley-Smith.

In contrast, Safarova reached the final in Copenhagen and lost 9-7 in a third-set tiebreak to World No. 9 Marion Bartoli in Eastbourne. Safarova also defeated a difficult first-round opponent, Lucie Hradecka, in her previous match

Safarova is playing great tennis right now, while Zakopalova is struggling to find her game. This should make for a tight straight set victory for Safarova
